viking-x.y.z.tar.gz Requires the GTK+ libraries and headers version 2.8 or greater.
Linux or UNIX
Viking has been tested on
- Debian unstable
- FreeBSD
- Fedora Core 5,6
Debian
Viking is packaged for Debian and already available in official repositories. Simply do:
apt-get install viking

Ubuntu
To install Viking in Ubuntu, simply paste apt:viking in Firefox, or go to Applications - Add/Remove, search for viking, enable the checkbox and click Apply Changes. It'll then appear in Applications - Education.
openSUSE and Fedora
You can get packages from the openSUSE Build Service project Application:Geo
Gentoo
An Ebuild file can be found for Viking on our SVN: Viking.ebuild
Arch
A PKGBUILD file can be found for Viking in the Arch Linux User Repository (AUR): PKGBUILD
FreeBSD
Viking is available in the official ports tree as astro/viking.
Windows
Viking depends on GTK+ 2.8 or greater. So you must have the GTK+ Runtime installed in order to run Viking on windows.
Viking packages for Windows can be found in two forms: - with an installer (GTK+ Runtime included in the installer)
- without an installer (GTK+ Runtime available as a separate download here)
